Taiwan's semiconductor industry powered the island's economy to its strongest growth in three years, driving the combined wealth of its 50 richest people to $197 billion – a 13% jump that highlights how these business leaders continue to influence local markets and global technology supply chains.

The gains came despite tariff uncertainties that kept Taiwan’s benchmark TAIEX stock index relatively flat. A strengthening New Taiwan dollar boosted the dollar value of these fortunes, which remain closely tied to the chip industry that supplies components for smartphones and AI systems.
