Daedong Corp. started exporting tractors to Ukraine, marking its entry into a market seeking to rebuild its agricultural sector. The South Korean manufacturer shipped its first batch of 20 mid-to-large sized tractors following a 30 billion won ($23 million) three-year contract signed in November.

The move comes as Ukraine, often referred to as Europe’s breadbasket, looks to modernize its farming equipment amid ongoing reconstruction efforts. Daedong tested the market in October by delivering 10 units of its 100-140 horsepower tractors, accompanied by technical training for local operators.

Ukrainian parliament member Oleksandr Denysenko said local farmers had responded positively to the trial units, citing the machines’ technical capabilities. The company’s vice president Lee Jong-soon indicated plans to expand operations in Ukraine from 2025.

The agreement represents a strategic entry point for Daedong into Eastern Europe’s agricultural market, which has faced significant infrastructure challenges since 2014. The manufacturer’s PX/HX tractor models are expected to support Ukraine’s efforts to enhance farming productivity.

The contract signing ceremony in Daegu was attended by Ukrainian officials, including counselor Andriy Beskhin, underlining the diplomatic significance of the agricultural partnership.
