Kakao Corp. announced that its mobile solution subsidiary dK Techin Corp. will merge with its AI-focused affiliate Kakao Brain, effective October 1. This move aligns with Kakao’s broader effort to simplify its corporate structure, reducing its number of subsidiaries from 138 to 123 this year.
DK Techin, which provides system integration and IT support services within the Kakao group, will now operate under Kakao Brain, signaling a shift towards prioritizing AI capabilities. Earlier in the year, dK Techin merged with KEP, another former subsidiary of Kakao Enterprise.
Kakao Brain is also refining its focus, planning to spin off its healthcare division into a new entity named CXR Lab. Additionally, the AI development team from Kakao Brain was integrated into the parent company in June, indicating a consolidation of AI resources to strengthen Kakao’s position in this rapidly evolving field.
