Gogoro, in partnership with TSMC, has announced new initiatives to advance their net-zero transformation efforts in Hsinchu, Taiwan. This marks the second collaboration between the leading electric scooter manufacturer and the semiconductor giant, aiming to enhance sustainable urban mobility.

The collaboration includes the expansion of Hsinchu’s battery switching network with the introduction of GoStations powered by green electricity. This initiative is a first for Taiwan, setting a precedent in the region for integrating clean energy into daily transportation. Additionally, Gogoro will launch its “borrow and return” GoShare mobile sharing service in Hsinchu, utilizing its latest electric scooter models, the Gogoro JEGO and Gogoro VIVA MIX, to serve the local community.

Lu Xuesen, founder and CEO of Gogoro, expressed enthusiasm about leading the sustainability wave alongside TSMC, emphasizing the strategic expansion into renewable energy and infrastructure to provide more secure and convenient transportation options. This effort supports Taiwan’s ambition to achieve the 2050 net-zero goal and establishes a new standard for industrial collaboration in sustainability.

TSMC’s Senior Vice President and ESG Committee Chairwoman, Ho Limei, highlighted the importance of expanding green initiatives from Taichung to Hsinchu, reflecting on the successful integration of shared scooters in reducing carbon emissions and promoting a sustainable lifestyle. TSMC’s commitment also includes educational discounts, offering a 10% ride discount to nearly 40,000 students at local universities.

The new GoStation sites in Hsinchu will focus on densely populated areas, with plans to increase the power exchange capacity in the Hsinchu Science Park by 125%. This expansion is not just about enhancing the infrastructure but also embedding sustainable practices into the everyday lives of residents, with every ride contributing to cleaner energy usage.

To celebrate the launch, Gogoro will offer half-price rides across Taiwan from April 19 to 21, allowing residents to experience eco-friendly transportation at reduced costs. This initiative underscores Gogoro and TSMC’s commitment to pioneering green transportation solutions that benefit both the environment and the community.
