Far EasTone Telecommunications posted strong January results as its mobile business expanded, with monthly revenue reaching NT$8.66 billion (US$275 million). The company’s net income grew 9.6% year-over-year to NT$1.07 billion (US$34 million), while EBITDA increased 4.5% to NT$3.12 billion (US$99 million).
The telecom provider maintained its industry leadership in 5G adoption, with penetration reaching 43.4% among postpaid subscribers. Its postpaid user base grew to 6.78 million customers, while churn rates hit historic lows. Average revenue per user showed positive growth for the first time since the Asia Pacific Telecom merger.
The company removed approximately 450,000 inactive prepaid SIM cards, mostly belonging to foreign workers and tourists, as part of its effort to optimize number management. This cleanup had no impact on revenue.
In a push to attract younger users, Far EasTone partnered with cryptocurrency platform MaiCoin to launch a Lunar New Year promotion offering NT$4.5 million (US$143,000) worth of Bitcoin rewards. The company’s “FET Life” app continues to expand its lifestyle services, including entertainment and financial offerings.
Far EasTone has maintained mobile service revenue growth for 47 consecutive months since March 2021, reaching NT$5.1 billion (US$162 million) in January, up 2.4% year-over-year.
