Aeon Motor Co., in collaboration with Dotstation and Gogoro, has launched the “EV-C1,” a high-priced pure electric motorcycle in South Korea. This marks the first instance of a Taiwanese electric motorcycle entering an overseas market, achieving impressive initial sales with over 1,000 orders. The success in South Korea has prompted plans to introduce the EV-C1 to the Taiwanese market.

Zhong Ya Cheng, son of Aeon Motor Chairman Zhong Jie Lin and manager of the company’s operations center, highlighted that Hongjiateng manufactured the EV-C1 while Gogoro handled the energy operation. This collaboration has made the EV-C1 the first electric motorcycle exported to South Korea, with shipments commencing in the second quarter. The strong sales performance has set the stage for its launch in Taiwan, garnering significant attention for Hongjiateng.

The strategic partnership between Aeon Motor and Gogoro leverages Gogoro’s battery and energy systems, with Hongjiateng responsible for the complete motorcycle assembly. Dotstation contributed to the exterior design and local sales channels in South Korea. This tri-partite cooperation aims to capture 30% of Taiwan’s heavy machinery market share.

Aeon Motor also unveiled its new gas-electric vehicle, the “Adventure Sports Yellow Card Brera X,” and the electric sports car EV-C1. The EV-C1, designed by Dotstation, has already won the Korean Electric Motorcycle Award for best sales, underscoring its appeal.

Plans are underway to produce and sell the EV-C1 in Taiwan through authorization, benefiting from local production cost advantages. The recommended price in Taiwan is NT$124,980, approximately NT$30,000 lower than the South Korean price due to the local production benefits.

The EV-C1’s successful entry into the South Korean market, aided by Gogoro’s extensive smart battery switching network, demonstrates the viability of exporting Taiwanese electric motorcycles. Dotstation’s representative, Li Runzhao, attended the recent EV-C1 launch event in Taiwan, signaling the beginning of this new market expansion.
