YUKE’s Co. returned to profitability in fiscal 2024 despite a significant drop in sales and operating profit, as the Tokyo-based video game developer weathered project delays and contract revisions.

Revenue fell 20.3% to ¥3.26 billion ($21.7 million) in the year ended January 2025, while operating profit plunged 51.1% to ¥87 million, the company said Wednesday. Net income swung to ¥198 million from a ¥1.35 billion loss a year earlier when the company took a ¥1.6 billion impairment charge on assets related to “DC Dual Force.”

YUKE’s cited contract revisions from game clients and delivery delays in its pachinko and pachislot machine business for the steep decline in operating profit. The return to profitability was boosted by a ¥95 million gain from selling investment securities and a ¥37 million reversal of stock acquisition rights.

The company’s contract software business released “Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2” in May 2024 and announced its “Double Dragon Revive” game would launch in October 2025. Its XR division contributed to CG production for several virtual live events, including using its proprietary ALiS ZERO technology for real-time virtual singer performances.

For fiscal 2025, YUKE’s forecasts a 16.7% increase in sales to ¥3.8 billion and a 298% jump in operating profit to ¥350 million.
