At the upcoming Touch Taiwan 2024, Xinwei Technology is set to unveil its latest automotive MiniLED and RGB direct display screens. This launch is a result of the strategic partnership with Speed Tech, employing a factory-in-factory model to pioneer applications in automotive and industrial control sectors.
Renowned for its expertise in the COB (chip on board) process, Xinwei Technology adheres bare chips onto substrates using conductive or non-conductive adhesives, followed by wire bonding for electrical connections. This method offers numerous benefits, including smaller pitch, enhanced power efficiency, and exceptional brightness up to 2,000 nits—surpassing traditional side brightness limits and providing vivid contrast suitable for specialized applications like yacht navigation and car main screens.
The mastery of COB technology has positioned Xinwei Technology as a leader in the field, facilitating collaborations with major manufacturers worldwide. Among these partnerships is the notable alliance with French Micro LED innovator Aledia and several key panel producers from Taiwan, South Korea, and China. These collaborations are focused on advancing the next-generation Mini/Micro LED products, aiming to secure a competitive edge in the marketplace.
A pioneering achievement by Xinwei Technology is the mass production of laser welding technology in the Mini LED panel process, which replaces traditional SMT to allow for finer pixel pitch and higher density. This innovation not only boosts production efficiency but also enhances the stability and reliability of Mini LED units. Additionally, the company’s unique packaging technology significantly improves light uniformity and can augment the brightness by up to 30% compared to traditional POB products, promising to impact Mini LED applications and reduce costs significantly.
Despite a slower uptake in the consumer market than anticipated, Xinwei Technology remains optimistic about the future of Mini LEDs, citing their high brightness and energy efficiency as aligning with market trends. With improvements in the cost and yield rate of Mini LED materials since two years ago, the company is confident about the market’s potential growth in late 2024 and into 2025.
