WonderPlanet Inc. reported a significant profit increase for the fiscal year ending August 2024, despite a sharp decline in revenue. The Japanese mobile game developer saw its operating profit surge 142.9% to 121 million yen ($800,000), while sales fell 29.3% to 2.449 billion yen ($16.2 million).
The company’s strategic decisions to terminate several titles, including the overseas version of “Crash Fever” and “Alice Fiction,” contributed to the revenue drop. However, these moves also led to improved profit margins.
WonderPlanet’s flagship title, the Japanese version of “Crash Fever,” performed well, especially during its 9th anniversary campaign. The company also saw stable revenue from joint development projects, including “Pandland,” launched in June 2024 in collaboration with Game Freak.
Looking ahead, WonderPlanet is focusing on developing two major IP titles with partners, aiming for annual releases from 2025 onward. The company has not disclosed its earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending August 2025, citing the rapidly changing competitive landscape in the global mobile game market.
