Japanese mobile game developer WonderPlanet Inc. reported a quarterly loss as revenue declined following the shutdown of several gaming titles and continued investment in new releases.

The Tokyo-listed company posted a net loss of 66 million yen ($450,000) for the first quarter ended November, compared with a profit of 16 million yen a year earlier. Sales dropped 15.2% to 531 million yen ($3.6 million).

Revenue from development and operations of new titles and existing games like Pandland increased to 344 million yen, though this was offset by the March closure of Jump Chi Heroes in both Japanese and Traditional Chinese versions. The company’s Crash Fever title also saw declining sales.

WonderPlanet cited ongoing development costs for two new games using major intellectual property licenses, planned for release from 2025, as weighing on profits. Operating expenses for Pandland continued to exceed its revenue as the company prioritizes investment in growth.

The gaming firm is targeting roughly one new title release per year from 2025 onward as part of its medium to long-term expansion strategy.
