Wonder Planet Inc. projected a full-year loss for the period ending August 2025, marking a reversal from the prior year’s profit as its flagship mobile game failed to meet expectations. The company anticipates revenue of ¥2.32 billion ($15.2 million), down 5.4% from the previous year, with a net loss of ¥131 million ($858,000) compared to net income of ¥92 million ($602,000) a year earlier.

The decline stems largely from Pandland’s weak performance, according to the company’s statement. User acquisition costs proved less efficient than planned, while player retention rates fell short of internal benchmarks. The shortfall was compounded by the March closure of Jump Chi Heroes and ¥100 million ($655,000) allocated to research and development for new titles.

Wonder Planet cited progress on two licensed games under development—Jump+ Jumble Rush and Hunter×Hunter Nen Survivor—as potential catalysts for recovery. The company, which went public in 2019, has struggled to maintain profitability in Japan’s competitive mobile gaming market. Its shares have declined 26% year-to-date, valuing the business at roughly ¥2.15 billion.

The developer’s strategy centers on leveraging Japanese intellectual property for global audiences, though execution challenges have persisted across its portfolio of casual mobile games.
