Wistron Corp., a leading Taiwanese OEM, has entered into a strategic alliance with the emerging AI company Zettabyte to jointly develop an ultra-large-scale AI data center. This partnership marks a significant step in Wistron’s expanding AI footprint and is expected to generate substantial demand for AI server construction, benefitting both Wistron and its subsidiary, Wiwynn.
While Wistron did not disclose the specific investment amount or shareholding ratio, Chairman Lin Xianming highlighted that the data center will incorporate cutting-edge liquid cooling technology, enhancing operational efficiency. This advanced cooling system is a key feature that aligns with Wistron’s commitment to innovation in AI infrastructure.
Industry insiders anticipate that Wistron will secure the majority of future AI server hardware orders for the project, with Wiwynn also poised to win significant contracts due to its expertise in liquid cooling technologies. Wiwynn has been a leader in cooling solutions, demonstrating its advancements at this year’s Computex Taipei, including collaborations with Wistron on liquid cooling systems.
Zettabyte, led by Chairman Tai Zhonghe, one of Acer’s co-founders, is optimistic about the collaboration’s potential to meet the growing AI computing demands in Taiwan and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The AI data center is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing Taiwan’s AI ecosystem, supporting various sectors such as semiconductors, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and smart cities.
The partnership between Wistron and Zettabyte is also seen as a move to elevate Taiwan’s global standing in AI development, leveraging Wistron’s ICT expertise and integrating it with Zettabyte’s AI software solutions and advanced hardware platforms.
