TV Tokyo Holdings lifted its operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2026 by 22%, citing stronger-than-expected performance from overseas anime licensing and domestic advertising. The broadcaster now expects operating profit of ¥11 billion ($71.4 million), up from its previous estimate of ¥9 billion.
The revision reflects growing royalty income from smartphone games based on Naruto and Boruto franchises in international markets, according to the company’s November 5 announcement. Bleach-related games performed particularly well in China and Europe. Revenue projections increased 3.1% to ¥164 billion ($1.06 billion).
TV Tokyo’s spot commercial revenue—advertising sold outside of fixed program sponsorships—exceeded internal expectations during the period. The company also reported higher-than-anticipated returns from ad-supported video streaming services and domestic content distribution rights.
The upgraded forecast suggests TV Tokyo is capitalizing on anime properties that have maintained popularity decades after their original broadcast runs. Net profit projections rose 13% to ¥7.7 billion ($50 million).
Compared with the prior fiscal year, the company expects operating profit to climb 41% and revenue to advance 5.2%. The sharp profit growth outpaces revenue gains, indicating improved margins from higher-value licensing arrangements.
