VisEra Technologies, a key supplier of color filter molds to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., reported a sharp increase in third-quarter earnings as smartphone makers ramp up orders for higher-resolution camera components.
The Taiwan-based manufacturer posted a net income of NT$576 million ($18.2 million) in the third quarter, up 36% from the previous quarter and surpassing last year’s NT$356 million ($11.2 million). Revenue reached NT$2.75 billion ($86.8 million), exceeding management’s forecast of 7-9% growth.
Gross margins expanded to 36.1%, marking a 6.45 percentage point improvement from the second quarter as factory utilization rates climbed. The company’s earnings per share reached NT$1.82 ($0.057).
For the first nine months of the year, VisEra Technologies’ net profit surged to NT$1.18 billion ($37.2 million), more than tripling from the same period last year. The company maintains a cautiously optimistic outlook for the fourth quarter, citing increased demand for larger mobile phone image sensors and early ordering for the upcoming holiday season.
