Tatung Co. is expanding its presence in the US power equipment market through strategic partnerships and potential acquisitions of local manufacturers, positioning itself to benefit from expected infrastructure spending increases.

The Taiwanese electrical equipment maker has engaged international accounting firms to advise on potential acquisitions or equity investments in US transformer manufacturers. The move would make Tatung the first Taiwanese company to own transformer manufacturing facilities in the US.

The company aims to leverage its five power equipment production bases in Dayuan and a new distribution transformer plant in Guanyin to collaborate with US strategic partners. The expansion strategy includes forming alliances with distributors serving the three major US power grids to rapidly scale production capacity.

Tatung has already shown success in international markets, securing orders for hydroelectric generators and transformers from Japan’s largest power company, and becoming the only foreign supplier for smart meters in Japanese public tenders.

The company sees significant growth potential in the US market, driven by increasing power demands from artificial intelligence development and clean energy initiatives. Market analysts note that competition in the US power infrastructure sector is intensifying as major manufacturers expand their presence.
