Takara Tomy Holdings Co. raised its annual profit forecast to an all-time high, fueled by strong sales of trading card games and traditional toy lines across Japan and Asia.
The Tokyo-based company now expects net income of ¥16.3 billion ($105 million) for the fiscal year ending March 2025, up 12.4% from its previous projection, according to a statement Thursday. Sales are forecast to reach ¥250 billion, exceeding earlier estimates by 4.2%.
The 100-year-old toy manufacturer cited robust performance from its core product lines including Tomica die-cast vehicles, Duel Masters cards, capsule toys, and plush items. The January 2025 launch of Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game has emerged as a particular bright spot for the company’s portfolio.
Retail operations through its Kiddy Land chain, including flagship locations in Tokyo’s Harajuku and Osaka’s Umeda districts, contributed to the domestic segment’s strength. The company also reported steady growth in Asian markets outside Japan.
Takara Tomy’s “Medium to Long-Term Management Strategy 2030,” which focuses on expanding age demographics and geographic reach, appears to be yielding results ahead of schedule.
Following the improved outlook, the company raised its year-end dividend forecast to ¥36 per share from ¥28, bringing the annual payout to ¥64 per share, up from ¥50 last year.
