Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (PSMC) has formed a strategic alliance with India’s Tata Electronics and Taiwan’s Himax Technologies to develop India’s display semiconductor ecosystem.
The three companies signed a memorandum of understanding that leverages each firm’s strengths in the semiconductor value chain, according to PSMC General Manager John Chu. Himax will provide display integrated circuit designs and ultra-low-power AI sensing solutions that meet India’s manufacturing requirements.
Tata Electronics CEO Randhir Thakur said the partnership will deliver comprehensive solutions for display technology and AI sensing by combining Tata’s electronic manufacturing services with Himax’s IC design expertise and PSMC’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
The collaboration establishes a complete ecosystem in India to address growing demand in both local and global markets for display and smart sensing semiconductors, Thakur added.
Himax CEO Jordan Wu noted that India is emerging as a critical hub for electronic product development and manufacturing, creating significant opportunities for industry growth. The partnership will introduce Himax’s advanced display and low-power AI sensing technologies to the Indian market, supporting the “Made in India” initiative while enhancing global semiconductor supply chain resilience.
