Airoha Technology unveiled its flagship wireless audio chip AB1595, integrating multiple functions into a single system-on-chip solution that meets Microsoft Teams Open Office certification standards. The company said the chip will be available in consumer products starting in the first quarter of 2025.

The AB1595 represents Airoha’s push into the premium audio segment, where it faces competition from established players like Qualcomm and MediaTek. The chip can process input from up to 10 microphones simultaneously and uses artificial intelligence to enhance voice clarity while suppressing background noise.

According to Senior Vice President Yang Yu-chuan, the chip can reduce ambient noise by up to 40 decibels, compared to the typical 10-decibel reduction in consumer-grade headphones. This level of noise suppression is particularly effective in busy environments like offices and cafes.

The semiconductor maker is targeting manufacturers of premium wireless headphones, offering them a complete software development kit to reduce integration costs. The chip is the company’s fifth-generation audio processor and its first to feature a built-in AI accelerator.

Airoha hasn’t disclosed pricing for the new chip or named any customers that plan to use it in their products.
