Taiwan’s STARLUX Airlines reported November revenue of NT$2.99 billion ($94.7 million), marking a 47% increase from the previous year as autumn tourism to Japan boosted passenger numbers.
Passenger revenue climbed 42% to NT$2.51 billion, with Japanese routes maintaining 90% load factors during the peak maple-viewing season. The carrier’s cargo division saw revenues nearly double to NT$318 million, benefiting from year-end shopping demand for consumer electronics and home appliances.
STARLUX is set to receive two Airbus A350-900 aircraft this month, bringing its total fleet to 26 planes. The expansion will support increased North American service, with Los Angeles flights rising to 10 weekly from December 22. Seattle routes will become daily from March, giving the airline 24 weekly flights to three West Coast destinations.
The carrier is strengthening its Japan network by deploying larger A330neo aircraft on routes to Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Sendai. New services between Taipei and Kobe are planned for the second quarter of 2024, while flights from Taichung to Okinawa will increase to six times weekly during the summer schedule.
