Taiwan’s StarLux Airlines is plotting its European debut as part of a global expansion strategy that includes new routes to major U.S. cities and additional Asian destinations.
The carrier’s chief commercial officer, Wenlong Liang, outlined plans to add three new destinations in 2025, including Japan’s Kobe and one long-haul route. The airline is evaluating several European cities including Madrid, Helsinki, Stockholm, and Copenhagen, targeting locations with strong business travel demand and cargo potential.
StarLux expects to receive all 18 of its ordered Airbus A350 aircraft by 2027, with most capacity dedicated to long-haul routes. The expansion follows the airline’s recent focus on North American markets, where it currently serves three West Coast destinations. Its Los Angeles service will increase to 10 flights weekly from December 22.
The Taiwanese carrier has also deepened its partnership with Alaska Airlines through codeshare agreements, leveraging the U.S. carrier’s domestic network to extend its reach into inland American cities.
The expansion plans come as StarLux positions itself as a premium carrier in the competitive Asian aviation market, emphasizing luxury service and incorporating Taiwanese design elements into its brand identity.
