Sankyo has forecast declines in revenue and profit for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2025, with sales expected to reach 90 billion yen, down 22.5% year-on-year. The company anticipates operating profit to fall 23.1% to 35 billion yen, with net profit also dropping 23.8% to 25 billion yen. These projections reflect lower-than-expected sales volumes in its core pachinko machine segment.
While pachinko machine sales are forecast to fall to 83,000 units from 167,000 in the same period last year, the company’s newly launched “eFever Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Return – White Unicorn and Black Lion” smart pachinko machine, released in August 2024, shows promise. Sankyo hopes it will catalyze broader adoption of smart pachinko machines.
In the pachislot segment, Sankyo launched new titles and ramped up production of existing models, boosting sales to 81,000 units, compared to 48,000 units a year earlier. The company’s growing presence in the smart pachislot market is a bright spot amid otherwise declining sales figures.
Despite the expected dip in Q2 performance, Sankyo says it is on track with its overall business plan.
