Samsung SDS Co. is expanding its cloud infrastructure business through a new partnership with engineering simulation provider Ansys Inc.’s South Korean unit. The collaboration focuses on integrating Ansys’s computer-aided engineering solutions into Samsung’s cloud platform.
The technology arm of Samsung Group will provide GPU-powered artificial intelligence infrastructure through its Samsung Cloud Platform, while Ansys Korea will deliver technical expertise and training for its simulation software. The service will target industries including automotive, energy, defense, and semiconductor manufacturers.
The move puts Samsung SDS in direct competition with major cloud providers like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, which already offer similar engineering simulation capabilities. Industry analysts note that the success of this partnership will largely depend on the pricing structure and ease of integration with existing systems.
The companies plan to conduct technical compatibility testing before rolling out the service through SCP’s marketplace. While both firms expect the partnership to reduce product development times, they haven’t disclosed specific performance targets or timeline for the commercial launch.
Samsung SDS shares have risen 15% this year, outperforming the broader KOSPI index, as investors bet on the company’s expansion into AI-focused cloud services.
