Round One Corp., Japan’s entertainment complex operator, posted an 11.6% jump in operating profit as crane games continued to drive customer traffic at its amusement centers in both Japan and the US.

The Osaka-based company reported operating profit of ¥27.01 billion ($180 million) for the fiscal year ended March 2025, with revenue climbing 11.2% to ¥177.06 billion ($1.18 billion). Net income rose 2.3% to ¥16.03 billion ($106.9 million), according to its May 9 financial statement.

Round One aggressively expanded its US operations, opening eight new locations during the fiscal year, including sites in Las Vegas, California and New Jersey. The company’s strategy of installing approximately 120 crane game machines per location in what it calls “Mega Crane Zones” helped fuel a 23.3% surge in US amusement revenue.

The company cited limited-time collaborations with virtual YouTubers and anime content as effective traffic drivers. It also implemented strategic price increases in both markets to offset inflation pressures.

For the fiscal year ending March 2026, Round One projects revenue of ¥193.16 billion ($1.29 billion) and operating profit of ¥31.22 billion ($208.1 million), representing expected growth of 9.1% and 15.6%, respectively.

While Japan remains its core market, Round One’s US segment showed stronger performance across all categories, with food and other revenue jumping 27.2%. The company closed one location in Nanjing, China in March 2025.
