Pulmuone posted a 5% increase in second-quarter sales, reaching 793 billion won (approximately $585.02 million), supported by growth in both domestic and overseas markets. The company’s operating profit saw a modest rise of 0.5% to 16.9 billion won, while cumulative sales for the first half of the year hit a record 1.56 trillion won, with an operating profit of 32.5 billion won.
The domestic market showed solid performance, particularly in the food service and distribution sector. Pulmuone’s expansion in group catering services and new contract acquisitions played a significant role in driving sales growth. This sector saw a 16.2% year-on-year increase in sales, reaching 224.1 billion won, while operating profit surged 34.1% to 6.7 billion won, buoyed by increased overseas travel and contract renewals.
Overseas, Pulmuone’s U.S. subsidiary continued to lead the way, with a 15.7% sales increase, driven by strong demand for tofu and Asian foods, alongside improved local production efficiency. Meanwhile, the Chinese subsidiary posted a robust 22.7% sales increase, fueled by new product launches in the noodle category. However, the Japanese subsidiary faced challenges, with a slight dip in sales, though its popular Tofu Bar product helped stabilize revenue.
Pulmuone’s diversified growth across multiple regions and product lines underscores its strategic focus on expanding its global footprint and optimizing operations.
