Orion Corp. unveiled a 830 billion won ($570 million) global expansion plan, marking the largest domestic investment by a South Korean food company in five years.
The confectionery maker will allocate 460 billion won to build an integrated production, packaging and logistics center in Jincheon County, South Korea, spanning 188,000 square meters and equivalent to 26 soccer fields. Construction begins mid-year with completion targeted for 2027.
Orion will simultaneously expand internationally, directing 240 billion won to Russia where factory utilization exceeds 120% due to Choco Pie supply shortages. The new Russian facility will double production capacity with six additional lines for various products.
In Vietnam, where sales topped 500 billion won last year, the company will invest 130 billion won to expand its Hanoi plant. This facility aims to boost rice snack production and add new product lines.
The investments will be funded by dividends from Chinese and Vietnamese subsidiaries, with expected incoming dividends of 290 billion won this year.
The expansion underscores Orion’s growing international focus, with over 65% of sales now generated overseas since its first foreign foray in 1993.
