In a landmark collaboration, South Korea’s leading online portal, Naver Corp, and the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) are joining forces to bring a technological revolution to public health services. This partnership focuses on harnessing Naver’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI), particularly its HyperCLOVA X large language model (LLM), to elevate the quality and efficiency of health services provided by the NHIS.

The business agreement, which involves Naver and Naver Cloud, primarily aims to enhance public access to health information and statistical data. This effort is part of a broader initiative to advance national health standards and improve the overall quality of life for South Koreans.

A critical component of this partnership is the integration of NHIS’s extensive data with HyperClova X. This integration is expected to result in more user-friendly public services and boost internal productivity at NHIS. The collaboration will utilize Naver Cloud’s AI welfare check service, Clova Care Call, to innovate public service delivery. This GenAI-based service is designed to facilitate natural, conversation-based welfare checks, thereby streamlining caregiving processes and improving user satisfaction.

Moreover, Naver will facilitate easier access to health and statistical information from NHIS. This will include displaying NHIS health statistics analysis for specific diseases in Naver’s search results. Additionally, various health-related content will be made available through the Naver app’s Health Board. This content will cover a range of topics, from guidelines for daily self-health management to disease prevention strategies.

This groundbreaking collaboration between Naver Corp and NHIS represents a significant step forward in the digital transformation of public health services. By leveraging the power of AI, the partnership is set to redefine the landscape of healthcare information accessibility and the efficiency of welfare services in South Korea.
