Lunit Inc. secured a contract to provide its artificial intelligence-powered chest X-ray analysis solution to Saudi Arabia’s Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Medical Group, expanding the South Korean company’s footprint in the Middle East healthcare sector.
The agreement with HMG, the region’s largest private medical institution, will see Lunit’s INSIGHT CXR technology analyze more than 1 million chest X-ray images over the next three years, the company said Thursday. This marks the second collaboration between the firms after last year’s deal for Lunit’s mammography analysis software.
HMG operates over 20 medical facilities across Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain. The healthcare group decided to expand its use of Lunit’s AI solutions after verifying their clinical effectiveness and noting reduced workloads for medical staff.
“The Middle East region has high demand for the digitalization of medical infrastructure, with significant government investment,” Lunit CEO Seo Beom-seok said, highlighting the strategic importance of the market.
The contract reinforces Lunit’s growing presence in Saudi Arabia, where it’s already participating in the country’s “Vision 2030” national transformation program. Last year, the company began supplying AI technology to the SEHA Virtual Hospital project, which aims to modernize healthcare infrastructure and integrate advanced technologies.
Lunit is also showcasing its technology at the European Congress of Radiology, one of the world’s largest radiology conferences.
