LG CNS is pushing into the US smart building market through a partnership with real estate manager SomeraRoad and Mastern America, marking the South Korean technology company’s latest international expansion.
The collaboration targets properties in Kansas City, Missouri and Nashville, Tennessee, where LG CNS will implement its Cityhub platform to manage hotels, resorts, townhouses and commercial buildings.
The system integrates multiple building management functions, including facility control and energy optimization. Key features include blockchain-powered mobile access passes and employee identification systems.
For LG CNS, the move represents an opportunity to establish a foothold in the competitive US property technology sector. However, the company faces challenges from established players like Honeywell and Johnson Controls, which already have significant market share in building automation.
The memorandum of understanding stops short of specifying investment amounts or timeline commitments. Success will depend on the partners’ ability to demonstrate concrete benefits to property owners beyond existing solutions.
Mastern America, a US subsidiary of South Korean investment firm Marsten Investment Management, will help facilitate the market entry through its local real estate connections.
