Largan Precision Co. reported January revenue of NT$4.95 billion ($157 million), marking its strongest January on record despite a 12% month-on-month decline. The company’s sales rose 11% from a year earlier, driven by high-end smartphone lens demand.
The world’s leading smartphone lens maker expects February sales to slow further, though first-quarter performance should still surpass last year’s levels. The outlook comes as Samsung launches its flagship S25 series phones, which feature upgraded camera specifications.
Chairman Lin En-ping said Largan supplies high-specification main lenses for most premium smartphones but declined to discuss specific customer orders. Looking ahead to 2025, Lin noted increasing projects for AI phones, foldables, and ultra-thin devices. He highlighted that AI phones are driving under-display front camera adoption, requiring specialized lens designs.
The company has also diversified into robotics, with Lin confirming that Largan has delivered and validated camera modules for multiple humanoid robot customers. These applications primarily use five-piece plastic lens designs with added features for collision avoidance and night vision capabilities.
Largan shares closed at NT$2,810 on Monday, up NT$35. Foreign investors hold approximately 33% of the company’s stock.
