Krafton Inc. secured global publishing rights for survival simulation game Dinkum, marking its latest push to diversify beyond its battle royale franchise.
The PC title, developed by Australian indie creator James Bendon, has sold over 1 million copies since its early access release on Steam in July 2022. The game features survival mechanics set in an Australian wilderness where players build communities through activities like hunting, fishing, and construction.
The Seoul-based publisher will handle distribution rights for both the original Dinkum and an upcoming mobile version, Dinkum Together, being developed by its subsidiary 5minlab. As part of the expansion strategy, Krafton is adding 13 new language options including Korean to the previously English-only game.
To boost initial sales, the company is offering a 20% discount on Steam through February 19. The game has maintained “very positive” user ratings on the platform, according to Krafton.
The deal reflects growing competition among Asian gaming giants to secure promising indie titles as they seek to reduce dependence on their existing franchises.
