CJ Olive Young Corp. reported a 70% surge in international online sales during the first half of 2025, driven largely by explosive demand from the US market as Korean beauty products continue gaining global traction.
The K-beauty retailer’s Global Mall platform saw order volumes spike 60% year-over-year, with the US accounting for more than half of total sales and 40% of the overall sales increase in the six-month period. The company’s week-long summer promotion starting May 31 tripled compared to the previous year.
The sales momentum reflects broader industry trends, with the global K-beauty market projected to reach USD 20.4 billion by 2035 from current levels around $15 billion. Shipments to other markets also showed strong growth, with the UK quadrupling, Malaysia rising 256%, Singapore up 191%, Japan increasing 180%, and the Philippines growing 138%.
Popular products included skincare items featuring active ingredients like madecassoside, hyaluronic acid, and collagen, along with sunscreen and face masks. The retailer has enhanced its platform with simplified login options and self-service kiosks at physical stores for international visitors.
CJ Olive Young recently established a US subsidiary in Los Angeles and signed a logistics partnership with FedEx to strengthen its American operations. The company operates its Global Mall in over 150 countries, offering approximately 20,000 products from 1,200 Korean beauty brands.
The expansion comes as South Korea’s beauty exports to the US increased 57% to $1.9 billion last year, making America the second-largest export market for Korean cosmetics after China.
