KG Mobility, formerly SsangYong Motor, launched its first hybrid vehicle on Monday, expanding its powertrain offerings amid growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles.
The Torres Hybrid SUV features a new Dual-Tech Hybrid System with parallel dual motor and e-DHT transmission technology. The system allows the vehicle to operate in various modes, including pure electric, which KGM claims can account for up to 94% of urban driving.
With its 18-inch wheels, the Torres Hybrid achieves 15.7 km/l (approximately 37 mpg) combined fuel efficiency—41% better than its gasoline counterpart and surpassing competitors’ typical 30% efficiency gains. The 20-inch wheel version delivers 15.2 km/l, which the company says leads the segment.
Pricing starts at 31.4 million won (US$23,000) for the base T5 model and 36.35 million won (US$26,600) for the premium T7 trim after tax incentives for eco-friendly vehicles.
To boost sales, KGM offers financial incentives including a residual value guarantee of up to 64% after three years and low-interest financing.
The company indicated it plans to expand its hybrid lineup as part of a strategy that now encompasses gasoline, bifuel, electric, and hybrid powertrains.
