Kakao Mobility Corp., South Korea’s leading taxi-hailing app operator, is set to expand its robotic services into residential areas through a new partnership with Samsung C&T Corp. The collaboration, announced Friday, focuses on integrating Kakao’s “Bring” robot solution into Samsung’s residential and building management platforms.
The agreement marks a shift for Kakao Mobility’s Bring service, which has primarily been used in hotels and office spaces. Now, the company plans to extend its automated offerings to include indoor and outdoor delivery, cleaning, and valet parking in residential complexes.
This expansion builds on Kakao Mobility’s recent efforts to diversify its service environments. The company has been testing its robotic solutions in various locations, including a Seoul Forest development and a resort in North Chungcheong Province.
The partnership will leverage Samsung C&T’s Homeniq and Bynd platforms to create a standardized environment for robotic services in residential spaces. Both firms will collaborate on developing smart parking, charging infrastructure, and robot valet parking services.
Initial large-scale pilot tests are planned for two new Raemian apartment complexes, involving over 20 robots. This move signals Kakao Mobility’s ambition to reshape urban living through automation, though the long-term impact on employment and privacy remains to be seen.
