Hyundai Wia Corp., stepping into the future of electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, unveiled its groundbreaking Mobility Manufacturing Total Solution at SIMTOS 2024. This innovative approach, revealed in Goyang City’s KINTEX, integrates advanced machine tools with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and collaborative robots, crafting a fully automated system dedicated to producing EV components seamlessly.
The demonstration at the exhibition provided a glimpse into a future where human intervention in manufacturing is minimized. The process illustrated involves AMRs transporting materials to machine tools, where collaborative robots handle the materials, initiating a streamlined production process from transportation to final assembly of EV-specific components like motors, battery cases, and lightweight wheels.
With an array of 18 high-performance machine tools, including ten newly introduced at SIMTOS 2024, Hyundai Wia is aligning its technological capabilities with the evolving demands of the mobility market. This includes the deployment of AMRs capable of handling up to 1 ton, a strategic move to accommodate the heavier components typical of EVs compared to traditional vehicles.
Hyundai Wia’s commitment to advancing EV manufacturing technology extends beyond the exhibition, with plans to supply AMRs to Hyundai Motor Group’s innovation and manufacturing hubs in Singapore and America, as well as Hyundai Mobis’ North American battery plant. This initiative represents a significant step towards optimizing the efficiency and sustainability of EV production, marking Hyundai Wia as a key player in the transition to a greener automotive industry.
