Happinet Corp. reported a 34.6% jump in operating profit to ¥11.68 billion ($80.5 million) for the fiscal year ended March 2025, driven by strong performance in its toy and amusement segments despite taking a ¥1.49 billion ($10.2 million) special loss from game software impairment.
The Japanese entertainment products distributor saw overall revenue increase 4% to ¥364.42 billion ($2.51 billion), with net income climbing 2.8% to ¥6.76 billion ($46.6 million).
Trading cards including “Pokemon Card Game” and “ONE PIECE Card Game” along with Gundam model kits boosted the toy business, which recorded a 13% revenue increase and 32.9% profit surge. The company’s amusement segment performed even better with 25.7% revenue growth, benefiting from the expanding capsule toy market and increased store count of its “Gasha Coco” shops, which reached 137 locations.
These gains offset significant weakness in Happinet’s video game business, where revenue plunged 16.9% and profit plummeted 83.3% amid poor hardware and software sales.
The company’s video and music segment returned to profitability despite a slight revenue decline, helped by Snow Man’s album and improved performance in video production.
Looking ahead, Happinet forecasts continued growth with 6.8% revenue increase for fiscal 2026 as it plans targeted investments in manufacturing and retail operations while optimizing its corporate functions.
