Taiwanese hardware maker Giga-Byte Technology Co. saw first-quarter profits soar more than 40% to NT$31.16 billion (US$980 million), driven by robust AI server demand and strong sales of high-end graphics cards. The record Q1 result represents the company’s fourth-highest quarterly profit in history, trailing only peaks reached during the 2022 pandemic boom.
Consolidated revenue climbed to NT$657.47 billion for the quarter, with server operations—including AI infrastructure—accounting for 55% of sales. The company’s traditional motherboard and graphics card segment contributed 40%, bolstered by the successful launch of Nvidia’s new RTX 50 series.
Giga-Byte’s graphics card business performed particularly well as Nvidia’s latest generation GPUs hit the market. The high-margin premium cards helped lift Giga-Byte’s gross margin to 12.9% and operating margin to 6.45%, both showing year-over-year and sequential improvement.
To navigate U.S. tariff uncertainties, Gigabyte has diversified its manufacturing footprint, boosting Taiwan capacity to approximately 30% while ramping up production in Malaysia and the United States. The company also established a server production line in Brazil through a partnership with ADATA to expand its South American presence.
Looking ahead, analysts expect GPU supply constraints to ease in the second quarter, potentially resolving current shortages of RTX 50 series cards and boosting Gigabyte’s average selling prices.
