FURYU Corp. reported a 40.6% decline in operating profit to ¥2.24 billion ($14.9 million) for the fiscal year ended March 2025, even as revenue rose 3.6% to ¥44.3 billion ($295.3 million).

The Tokyo-based entertainment company’s earnings slump came primarily from its Girls Trend Business segment, which saw both revenue and operating profit fall 7.9% and 28.8% respectively. The unit’s photo booth business recorded just 29.6 million plays during the period, down from 33.3 million a year earlier, while paid subscribers to its PiCTLINK photo storage service declined to 1.37 million from 1.47 million.

These losses partially offset gains in the company’s World View Business, which increased revenue 8.7% through licensing popular manga and game intellectual properties. Crane game prizes performed well on expanding market demand and inbound tourism, while overseas merchandise sales grew substantially in China, the U.S. and Europe.

The company’s New Business segment narrowed its operating loss to ¥430 million from ¥574 million a year earlier, benefiting from strong sales of original gaming titles including “REYNATIS” and “Beyblade X ONE.”

Looking ahead, FURYU expects a recovery with operating profit projected to rise 34% to ¥3 billion in fiscal 2026 as it focuses on releasing original game titles internationally and plans to spin off its anime production business to improve efficiency.
