Taiwan’s EVA Airways Corp. posted record quarterly earnings as robust travel demand and surging cargo shipments boosted the carrier’s performance.
The airline’s third-quarter net income nearly doubled to NT$8.99 billion (US$282 million), while revenue climbed 7.3% to NT$57.2 billion. The Taipei-based carrier reported earnings per share of NT$1.66 for the period.
For the first nine months, EVA Air’s cargo operations proved particularly lucrative, with revenue jumping 27% to NT$37.1 billion. The growth was driven by increased shipments of AI servers, semiconductor equipment, and e-commerce goods. The ongoing port congestion also pushed more customers toward air freight alternatives.
The carrier expanded its regional routes and strengthened its hub network, leading to a 10% increase in passenger revenue to NT$109.7 billion through September. The company’s overall performance for the first three quarters has already matched its full-year 2023 profit of NT$21.6 billion.
EVA Air’s cargo volume rose 12% year-on-year, while freight unit revenue increased 13%, reflecting strong demand particularly from Southeast Asian markets for electronics and apparel exports.
