EVA Air is intensifying its focus on the North American market, with plans to increase both destinations and passenger capacity. Sun Jiaming, general manager of EVA Air, highlighted the airline’s strategy to maintain its competitive edge in the region, where North American routes already account for about 40% of the airline’s revenue. The carrier is also benefiting from a surge in transfer passengers from Vietnam and the Philippines, contributing to strong performance across its North American routes.

EVA Air’s cargo operations are also experiencing better-than-expected results, driven by growing demand for AI-related shipments. In July and August, the airline recorded a 40% year-on-year increase in cargo volume. This strong performance has contributed to a positive outlook for the rest of the year, with Sun predicting month-over-month improvements in both passenger and cargo revenues.

The airline currently operates 87 flights per week across eight North American destinations, with a passenger load factor consistently above 90%. EVA Air’s recent launch of a Hello Kitty-themed aircraft on its Taipei-Chicago route is part of its efforts to capture more market share, particularly among younger travelers.

Financially, EVA Air has posted impressive results, with second-quarter net profit after tax reaching NT$7.788 billion, a 31% annual increase. The first half of 2023 saw a net income of NT$12.51 billion, marking a 19.7% year-on-year growth. As the aviation industry continues its recovery, EVA Air is well-positioned to capitalize on rising demand, both in passenger travel and cargo services.
