Edia, the Japanese digital entertainment company, reported a substantial profit increase in its second-quarter results for the fiscal year ending February 2025. The company’s net profit more than doubled to 109 million yen ($730,000), up 102.8% from the same period last year.

The Tokyo-based firm attributed its strong performance to the growth of high-margin services, particularly its online lottery offerings. “Kujikore” and “Marukuji,” the latter targeting female customers, continued to expand through collaborations with popular intellectual properties.

Edia’s IP business saw steady progress in licensing its retro game titles to European and American markets, contributing to the company’s revenue stream. Meanwhile, the publishing arm, centered on Hifumi Shobo, experienced significant sales growth in both print and digital formats.

Overall sales rose 3.6% to 1.689 billion yen ($11.3 million), while operating profit surged 134% to 130 million yen ($870,000). The company’s strategic focus on high-profit margin services and diversified revenue sources appears to be paying off, though sustained growth in a competitive digital entertainment landscape remains a challenge.
