Doosan Enerbility Co., a leading South Korean power plant builder, has clinched a significant contract valued at 280 billion won ($209.6 million). The deal, signed with Korea Southern Power Co. (KOSPO), entails supplying core equipment for a new domestic power generation plant.

The contract, announced by the company on Thursday, involves providing essential components to a combined cycle power plant currently under construction. Doosan Enerbility, formerly known as Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., will deliver a 380-megawatt (MW) capacity gas turbine, a steam turbine, and a heat recovery steam generator.

Located in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, about 230 kilometers southeast of Seoul, the power plant is expected to be operational by December 2026, generating 569 MW of electricity. This project is a key part of the company’s ongoing collaboration with KOSPO, focusing on the development of the country’s gas turbine industry, including the joint development of hot section parts for gas turbines.

Vice Chairman Jung Yeonin of Doosan Enerbility highlighted plans to extend this collaboration into long-term gas turbine maintenance services. This strategy is aimed at enhancing the domestic gas turbine industry’s capabilities in all aspects and actively pursuing opportunities in the global market.

Additionally, Doosan Enerbility, which developed a large gas turbine for power generation in 2019, is progressing towards the introduction of fully hydrogen-powered turbines. With a capacity of 400 MW, these turbines are expected to be a game-changer in the industry and are slated for launch by 2027. This contract marks another milestone in Doosan Enerbility’s path to becoming a leading player in the global power generation sector.
