DB HiTek Co. posted a 9.3% increase in second-quarter operating profit as the South Korean specialty foundry capitalized on growing demand for power semiconductors across automotive and industrial sectors.
The company reported operating profit of 73.9 billion won ($53.4 million) for the quarter ended June, according to a regulatory filing Monday. The Bucheon-based chipmaker said it expects solid business performance through the rest of 2025, though it provided limited details about specific revenue drivers or margin trends.
The results reflect broader momentum in power semiconductor markets, where global demand is projected to reach $72 billion by 2030 according to industry analysts. Electric vehicle adoption and renewable energy infrastructure investments have particularly boosted demand for specialized chips that manage high-voltage applications.
DB HiTek specializes in analog and power semiconductors through its 8-inch fabrication facilities, competing with larger foundries like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and Samsung Electronics. The company has been developing silicon carbide and gallium nitride processes to target next-generation power applications, though these technologies remain in early commercial stages.
The foundry serves approximately 400 customers globally, with cumulative shipments exceeding 6 million 8-inch wafers. Despite the quarterly gain, DB HiTek faces intensifying competition from Chinese foundries and pricing pressure in mature semiconductor processes.
