CRI Middleware reported a 147% jump in operating profit for the nine months ended June, driven by strong demand for its gaming development tools and a new automotive software solution that has outperformed expectations.

The Tokyo-based company, which provides audio and video middleware primarily to game developers, posted revenue of ¥2.61 billion ($17.7 million) for the period, up 17% from a year earlier. Operating profit reached ¥467 million ($3.2 million).

The gaming division, representing CRI’s core business, generated ¥1.38 billion ($9.3 million) in sales, a 15% increase. Growth came from expanded licensing of its CRIWARE development tools to new domestic clients and overseas expansion, particularly in China where a third operating system launch boosted adoption. European and U.S. markets also showed steady progress.

More significant was the enterprise segment’s 18% revenue growth to ¥1.23 billion ($8.4 million), with segment profit surging 152%. The standout performer was CRI Glassco, the company’s automotive meter graphics solution, which continued exceeding projections through the third quarter. Embedded software licensing for karaoke systems and casino equipment also contributed to growth.

CRI maintained its full-year forecast unchanged, projecting ¥3.53 billion ($23.9 million) in revenue and ¥550 million ($3.7 million) in operating profit, representing 49% profit growth despite the modest 12% revenue increase guidance.
