South Korean logistics giant CJ Logistics has launched operations at its new cold storage facility in Gainesville, Georgia, marking its latest push into the competitive US market.
The 24,904-square-meter warehouse, dedicating 90% of its space to temperature-controlled storage, positions the company to serve growing demand for refrigerated and frozen goods distribution in the Southeast United States.
The facility’s location offers strategic advantages with its proximity to Norfolk Southern Railway lines and major highways. The upcoming Northeast Georgia Inland Port will provide direct connection to the Port of Savannah, potentially boosting the center’s role in regional supply chains.
CJ Logistics is already expanding its US cold chain network, with construction underway on a larger 27,000-square-meter facility in New Century, Kansas, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2025.
The Georgia facility includes specialized features like a USDA-certified inspection laboratory and rapid freezing systems, though the company hasn’t disclosed specific capacity figures or investment amounts for the project.
The expansion comes as US cold storage capacity remains tight, with major players like Americold and Lineage Logistics dominating the market. CJ Logistics aims to capture market share in this segment, leveraging its international logistics expertise.
