Bushiroad, the Tokyo-based entertainment company behind popular trading card games, returned to profitability in the first quarter of fiscal 2026, capitalizing on robust international demand and cost discipline in digital development.

The company posted net income of ¥1.663 billion ($10.8 million) for the three months ended September 30, a dramatic turnaround from a minimal loss in the prior-year quarter. Operating profit climbed 226.6% to ¥1.668 billion ($10.8 million), as revenue rose 12.2% to ¥13.766 billion ($89.1 million).

Weiss Schwarz, the flagship card game, led growth, while licensee titles including Godzilla and hololive bolstered sales. The card business drove results, with overseas revenue expanding 46% to represent 44.5% of total sales, up from 39.4% in the previous quarter.

Domestically, card sales climbed 18%, though digital games underperformed. The company released two console titles and concluded one mobile game while maintaining the Simplified Chinese version of BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!, which continued attracting players.

Bushiroad guides for full-year sales of ¥56 billion ($362 million), roughly flat from the prior year, with net income of ¥2.7 billion ($17.5 million). The first quarter represents 61.6% progress toward that target.
