Avex Inc. reported operating profit of ¥1.1 billion ($7.1 million) for the six months ended September, reversing a ¥2.1 billion loss a year earlier, as the Japanese entertainment company benefited from increased concert activity and overseas anime distribution.
Revenue climbed 14% to ¥64 billion in the first half of its fiscal year ending March 2026, the Tokyo-based company said Wednesday. Net income fell 47% to ¥864 million after the company booked one-time gains from subsidiary sales in the prior year period.
The company attributed the turnaround to higher concert volumes in its music division and stronger international streaming revenue for anime content. Avex also reduced selling and administrative expenses through lower bad debt provisions and tighter cost controls.
Founded in 1988, Avex manages J-pop artists and has expanded into anime production, video games and live events including its annual A-Nation summer concert series. The company operates 14 offices and generates approximately $1 billion in annual revenue.
The entertainment group has been expanding its US operations, acquiring music publishing assets and increasing its stake in S10 Management earlier this year. The company’s shares trade on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under ticker 7860.
