AltPlus Inc. reported deepening losses as the Tokyo-based mobile game developer struggles with declining user spending and restructuring costs. The company posted a net loss of ¥221 million ($1.5 million) for the second quarter ended March 31, compared with a ¥201 million loss a year earlier, while revenue plunged 25.3% to ¥1.45 billion.
The gaming company cited reduced in-game purchases across its portfolio and lower contract development revenue as it reassigned staff to focus on in-house titles. AltPlus currently operates two games, including “Hypnosis Mic-Alternative Rap Battle” and the newly added “Princess & Knight.”
Despite mounting losses, AltPlus is betting on expansion, securing rights to develop games based on major domestic intellectual properties and obtaining exclusive distribution rights for “Eve of Oblivion,” a foreign title planned for release this fiscal year. The company has also ventured into the “oshi” fandom market through its actor novel app “KISSMILLe,” though initial user acquisition has fallen short of expectations.
AltPlus continues to withhold financial guidance for the fiscal year ending September 2025, citing industry volatility and ongoing structural reforms.
