Aiming Inc. swung to profit in the first quarter as its flagship Dragon Quest Tact celebrated its 4.5-year anniversary while the company cut development costs and launched a new title.
The Tokyo-based online game developer posted a net income of ¥362 million ($2.4 million) for the January-March period, reversing a ¥346 million loss a year earlier. Revenue rose 12.2% to ¥5.17 billion, the company reported Monday.
Operating profit reached ¥1.35 billion, compared with a ¥149 million loss in the same period last year. Aiming credited the turnaround to stable performance from Dragon Quest Tact, which maintained active and paying users through anniversary events and new character releases.
The company’s collaboration with Square Enix on Dragon Quest Tact continues to be a key revenue driver, while other titles including “The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden” contributed through collaboration events and character additions.
Aiming launched “Wind Breaker: Heroes of Delinquency” on March 12, which added to first-quarter revenue. The company expects continued growth, forecasting sales of ¥8.77 billion for the first half of 2025, an 8.3% increase from the previous year.
The game developer is focusing on maintaining aging titles through seasonal events while preparing new releases for the coming quarters.
