Aeria Inc. turned profitable in the first quarter of 2025, rebounding strongly from losses in the same period last year despite a slight decline in overall revenue.

The Tokyo-based technology company reported an operating profit of ¥320 million ($2.9 million) for the January-March quarter, compared to an operating loss of ¥334 million in Q1 2024. This marked a significant turnaround as all three business segments achieved profitability.

While total revenue fell 3.1% year-on-year to ¥4 billion, the company’s content business – its largest segment – saw revenue jump 26.2% to ¥2.38 billion, swinging from a ¥372 million loss to a ¥48 million profit. Aeria credited increased content and merchandise sales along with reduced development costs for the improvement.

The IT services division, housing Aeria’s data services and affiliate marketing businesses, returned to profitability with a ¥30 million operating profit versus a ¥21 million loss last year. Meanwhile, the asset management segment posted the strongest profit margin despite a 34% revenue decline, with operating income surging 314.1% to ¥240 million due to high-margin property settlements.

Aeria maintained its full-year forecast, projecting a 17.5% revenue increase to ¥22.5 billion with an operating profit of ¥700 million.
