Taiwan’s 91APP Inc., the island’s first publicly listed software-as-a-service company, has forged a partnership with Fuyi Technology to tackle retail system integration challenges facing department store brands.
The collaboration comes as 91APP reported NT$132 million ($4.1 million) in February revenue, marking 16.43% year-over-year growth, while the company pushes deeper into Taiwan’s competitive retail technology sector.
Fuyi Technology brings two decades of experience in enterprise resource planning and point-of-sale systems for department store operations, serving fashion, jewelry, children’s wear, and lifestyle brands. The partnership aims to help retailers merge online and offline customer data, inventory management, and promotional systems without disrupting existing store operations.
According to Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, direct-to-consumer e-commerce from brick-and-mortar retailers now accounts for over 30% of the island’s total e-commerce market, creating pressure on traditional department stores to digitize operations.
The integration challenge remains significant for Taiwan retailers, many of whom operate fragmented systems across physical locations and digital channels. While 91APP positions itself as an OMO solution provider, the partnership with Fuyi suggests the company recognizes gaps in its department store market penetration.
Both companies’ executives cited system integration as crucial for retail success, though the partnership’s financial terms and implementation timeline remain undisclosed.
